“Embodied” Solo Show

Opens at Gallery MAR in Park City, UT November 8th

Join us for an opening celebration 11/8/24 from 6-9pm

This show features 24 new, contemporary encaustic and cold wax paintings that explore what it means to be present in the environment around us.

In my new solo show, "Embodied," I’m excited to share a captivating collection of contemporary encaustic and cold wax paintings that explore the intricate relationship between body, identity, and landscape in the American West. Through layered surfaces, my work invites viewers to reflect on how the expansive terrains—ranging from misty, sage-covered hills to fog-draped mountain peaks and atmospheric forests—shape our personal and collective narratives.

The theme "Embodied" highlights the physical and emotional connections we have with our environment. Using encaustic and cold wax, both made with beeswax, I showcase depth through various techniques, exploring the landscapes I cherish. The tactile nature of these mediums allows for a visceral response, encouraging viewers to imagine themselves physically within the landscape. By immersing yourself in this atmospheric world, you can be present in the moment and connect with the here and now.

As you engage with my artwork, I hope you’ll contemplate your own ties to the land and how it influences your identity and sense of belonging. This new body of work celebrates the profound interplay between nature and self, offering a poignant reflection on the intricate ways we connect with our surroundings and fostering a deeper understanding of place and identity.
